I’m getting ready for a stronger season of speech and debate, and I discovered* that three affiliates did not get paid last year. I’m so sorry! I’ve contacted each affiliate and have manually paid them for their loyal affiliation.
Most affiliates get paid immediately upon a sale. Here’s why: they have a Business Paypal account (as opposed to the Regular Paypal account). This allows for payment to be taken back in the case of a refund. Here’s how Thrivecart explained it to me when I inquired:
This restriction isn’t imposed by us, it’s from PayPal due to the technologies and functionality we support for your payouts. Personal PayPal accounts have limitations that prevent things like the clawback feature from working (this is where if an affiliate refers a customer and you pay their commissions, if the customer they referred refunds, we’ll automatically instruct PayPal to try and clawback that payout from your affiliates PayPal account back to yours.
I have two ways to solve for this. First, I could require all affiliates to get Business Paypal accounts. I don’t want to do that. My second solution is this: I will set up a monthly process to manually pay any overdue affiliate compensation that is outstanding.
What does this mean for you? Here’s what you need to know:
- If you have a Business Paypal account, not to worry. Your payment is automated and quick.
- If you have a Regular Paypal account, there will be a 1-2 month turnaround for your payment.
I hope this clears things up! Thank you for your affiliation, friend. It ultimately helps spread speech and debate.
