Resolved: The United States Federal Government should significantly reform its policies regarding convicted prisoners under federal jurisdiction
This case removes the 18-1 sentencing disparity between “crack” cocaine and powder cocaine by passing the EQUAL Act, a bill currently pending in Congress but not enacted. In the status quo, possession of crack cocaine is punished with the same sentence as for 18 times larger quantity of powder cocaine.
